Christine M. SopaCecil County Board of Education Vice President District 3: Rising Sun/Fair Hill/Zion BiographyMrs. Christine Sopa has been involved in the Cecil County Public Schools for the last 8 years since moving here from Cleveland, Ohio in 1998. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Medical Biology and Chemistry in 1992 from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio and her Masters degree in 2005 in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Capella University in Minneapolis, MN. Chris’s area of specialization in her field is organizational change strategies, leadership development, and performance enhancement and motivation. She is the founder and owner of Chris Sopa International, Inc., a training and development organization focusing on human potential, wellness education, and leadership development which has been in business since early 2003. Chris and her husband Jim have a daughter, Natalie, in 7th grade at Cherry Hill Middle School and a daughter, Lindsey, in 9th grade at Rising Sun High School. Chris is the Parent Advisor for Cherry Hill Middle School as well as a member of the School Improvement Team. She was a parent chaperone in 2005 for the 6th grade trip to NorthBay and proceeded to serve on the North Bay Improvement Team with other leaders and parents in the school system. Chris is an active member of the Business Education Partnership Advisory Council and through her involvement in BEPAC sat on the committee that helped develop the new CCPS website in 2005, helped restructure the Speaker’s Bureau, facilitated a youth leadership development program to the students in the Elkton High School Options Program in 2004, currently organizes a business partner/mentor program for students in the Alternative Education Program, and personally mentors three students on a weekly basis. She is a 2005 graduate of the Cecil Leadership Institute and is a very active Cecil County Chamber member. Chris is one of three of the first ever elected school board members of Cecil County and intends to honor her position by serving the students of Cecil County Public Schools with her creativity, motivation, business knowledge, and love of education.
